This article explains how to use the Extended Desktop feature with ClickShare on a Windows PC, using the old user interface of the ClickShare App—available via the ClickShare Desktop App or the ClickShare Button.
Prerequisites:
- ClickShare Desktop App: Download and install the app on your Windows PC. Click here to download.
- ClickShare Extension Pack: Download and install the extension pack on your Windows PC. Click here to download
Note: If the ClickShare Desktop App (MSI) with the Extended Desktop feature enabled is already installed on your PC, there is no need to install the ClickShare Extension Pack separately - the Extended Desktop functionality is included by default with the ClickShare Desktop App (MSI). - ClickShare devices:
- CX-/C-/CB-series
- CS(E)-series: Must have firmware version 1.9.1 or higher installed to use the extended desktop feature with the ClickShare Button.
- Second screen configuration: Ensure that no second screen is connected configured in your Windows display settings; otherwise, the Extended Desktop feature will not be selectable in the app.
If you need this functionality simply to view your presenter notes whilst sharing a PowerPoint presentation, please consider using the Presenter mode with ClickShare Desktop App (how-to, see KB2386). Available for both Windows and macOS and does not require ClickShare Extension Pack.
The virtual screen will always use the native screen resolution not the set resolution of the connected client PC and this cannot be modified.
This may result in small text/icons on high-resolution displays. To fix this, adjust the scaling setting for the virtual generated screen under the windows System Display settings to enlarge the size of the text, App's and other items displayed over this virtual screen.
Using the Extended Desktop feature

When enabled, the extended desktop icon - a white circle on the right - will appear at the top right corner of the virtual Button, as shown below.

-
Click the virtual Button (white ring) to share your extended desktop to the meeting room display. Once activated, the virtual Button will turn red, as shown below.
-
On your laptop, select and move the content you want to share as extended desktop on the meeting room display.
