How to use ClickShare Extended Desktop feature?

This article explains how to use the extended desktop feature with the ClickShare Desktop App or Button on a Windows PC. Two procedures are described below: one using the new user interface of the ClickShare App and another using the old user interface of the ClickShare App.

Prerequisites for using Extended Desktop functionality:

ClickShare Desktop App: Ensure the ClickShare Desktop App is installed on your Windows PC. Download the app here.
ClickShare Extension Pack: Ensure the ClickShare Extension Pack is installed on your Windows PC. Download the extension pack here.
If the ClickShare Desktop App (MSI) with the Extended Desktop feature enabled is already installed on your computer, there is no need to separately install the ClickShare Extension Pack for Extended Desktop functionality, as it is included by default with the ClickShare Desktop App (MSI).
Second screen configuration: The extended desktop function is only selectable if no second screen is already connected/configured in your windows configuration.
Firmware version for CS(E)-series: Ensure the CS(E)-series device has firmware version 1.9.1 or higher installed when using the extended desktop feature with the ClickShare Button. The ClickShare App will launch automatically when you insert the ClickShare Button into your PC.

Info! If you need this functionality simply to view your presenter notes whilst sharing a PowerPoint presentation, please consider using the Presenter mode with ClickShare Desktop App. This is available on both Windows and Mac and doesn't require the installation of the ClickShare Extension Pack.

Info! Take note that the virtual screen will always use the "native" screen resolution not the set resolution of the connected client PC and this cannot be modified. For higher resolutions this might result in very small text and icons. Solution is to adjust the 'scaling" setting for the virtual generated screen under the windows System Display settings to enlarge the size of the text, App's and other items displayed over this virtual screen.

ClickShare Extended desktop function in new user interface

Connect to your meeting room's ClickShare device using the ClickShare Desktop App or the ClickShare Button.
Click the Extended desktop thumbnail in the GUI to enable the ClickShare as your extended desktop.

The Extended desktop thumbnail, marked by a red boundary and with stop and pause icons, will be displayed in the app interface.
On your laptop, select and move the content you want to show as extended desktop on the meeting room display.
Control the shared content by doing:
- : Click to unshare.
- / : Toggle button - click to pause and unpause the shared content respectively.

ClickShare Extended desktop function in old user interface

Connect to your meeting room's ClickShare device using the ClickShare Desktop App or the ClickShare Button.
Enable ClickShare as your Extended desktop: Click the 'quick button' top right in the ClickShare application and tick the "Extended desktop" option in the menu.

When enabled, the extended desktop icon (a white circle on the right) will appear at the top right corner of the virtual Button
Click the virtual Button (white ring) to share your virtual extended desktop to the meeting room display. The white virtual Button will turn red.
On your laptop, select and move the content you want to show as extended desktop on the meeting room display.
