How to share content using the ClickShare Button (All ClickShare models except Hub Core/Pro)

Applicable to

This article describes how to share content using a ClickShare Button—in three simple steps—with the following ClickShare models: C-series, CX-series, Bar Core/Pro, CS(E)-series, CSC-1 & CSM-1.

Note:

  • For sharing content to ClickShare Hub Core/Pro using the ClickShare Button (how-to, see KB15724).
  • For sharing content using the ClickShare Desktop App (how-to, see KB2607).

Procedure


  1. Plug in the Button into your laptop's (Windows or macOS) USB port:

    • C-series, CX-series & Bar Core/Hub: The white ring on the Button is filling up.
      In the meanwhile, a Preparing the meeting room... window is displayed on your laptop.
    • CS(E)-series, CSC-1 & CSM-1: The Button start flashing white.
  2. When the Button changes to static white, it's ready to share content.
  3. Click the Button.
    • C-series, CX-series, CS(E)-series, CSC-1 & CSM-1: Button LED changes to a static red and your screen are shared.
    • Bar Core/Hub: Button LED changes to a static purple and your screen is shared. Button LED changes to a static purple-red, if remote participants and screen are shared.


Note - Unplugging the ClickShare Button

  • Always stop sharing your screen on the meeting room display before unplugging the Button from your laptop.
  • If the Button is removed while sharing:
    • The display may freeze temporarily
    • The screen may become unresponsive for a few seconds
    • The system will recover once the Base Unit detects disconnection

Note - Content visibility and take over sharing

  • A user may be successfully connected to the ClickShare device using the ClickShare Button, but their shared content might not be visible if the maximum number of simultaneously displayed sources has been reached, see KB16037.
  • In such cases, the user can use the takeover sharing feature to replace the content currently displayed on the screen (how-to, click here).

Troubleshooting


  • ClickShare Button issues (LED behaviour)
    For issues occurring when plugging the ClickShare Button into your laptop, such as:
    • LED not lighting up
    • LED flashes white continuously,

  • Content not sharing (Error notification)
    • "Unable to share. No display detected" or "Unable to share", see KB5342.
    • Display Composition is full. Click and hold the ClickShare Button to show content fullscreen, see KB4382.
  • ClickShare Button not connecting (Error notification)
    • "Unable to connect to meeting room..." or "Something went wrong connecting to meeting room...", see KB5996
