3.2 Installation process

Physical installation process overview
  1. Install the projector in the desired position taking following points into account:

    • Ensure that the physical setup of projector complies with all safety requirements such as the hazard distance restriction zone etc. See safety chapter “High Brightness precautions: Hazard Distance
    • Projector configuration:

      • In case of a standing installation:

        • Use a solid pedestal to place a single F70 projector on (with or without rigging frame)
        • Use a solid pedestal and F70 rigging frames for stacking the F70 projectors up to maximum 3 units high.
      • In case of a hanging installation:

        • Use the F70 rigging frames to suspend up to maximum 2 stacked F70 projectors (Table Mount or Ceiling Mount).
        • Use a F70 rigging frame to hang one F70 projector in portrait (wall mount)
Note: For detailed instructions on how to use (install, suspend, stack, adjust, ...) the F70 rigging frame see separate documentation of the F70 rigging frame.
  2. Install the projector in the desired position taking following points into account:

    • Projector configuration. In case of table mount use a solid pedestal. In case of suspended installation use the F70 rigging frame. See chapter “Optional Accessories”.
    • Ensure that the physical setup of projector complies with all safety requirements such as the hazard distance restriction zone etc. See safety chapter “High Brightness precautions: Hazard Distance”.
  3. Electrical connection with the power net. See chapter “Power up the projector”.
  4. Installation of the lens. For detailed instructions see “Lenses”.

In case of a UST lens specifically, more detailed instructions are required. In this case, see “UST lenses”.

Caution: Install the lens safety cable in case the projector is mounted above people. For detailed instructions see “Installing the lens safety clamp”. For ordering info see the Barco website.
  5. Verify and adjust the convergence if required. There are two ways of adjusting the convergence:

    1. Mechanical convergence done by a certified technician, for detailed instructions see the service manual.
    2. Electronic convergence, for detailed instructions see Pulse GUI user guide, chapter Electronic convergence.
  6. Install the batteries of the Remote Control Unit (RCU). See chapter “Pulse RCU battery installation”.
  7. Installation of the Projector Toolset on local laptop. Download and install the latest version from the Barco website. See chapter “Download Projector Toolset”.
  8. Switch on the projector and start image projection. See user guide of the projector for details on how to operate the projector. Following options are possible to control the projector:

  9. Acclimatize and configure the used lens. Calibrate the lens. For detailed information, see the user guide of Projector toolset.
  10. Alignment of the projected image with the screen. Activate an internal test pattern to focus, zoom and shift the lens until the projected image is aligned with the screen. Use for that the:

    • Focus, Zoom and Shift buttons of the RCU.
    • Lens adjustment button of the Local Keypad. For detailed instructions see user guide of the projector.
    • Projector Toolset control software. For detailed instructions see user guide of Projector Toolset.

To level the projector with the screen adjust the feedtof the projector in case of a table mount installation, or adjust the rotation of the rigging frame in case of a suspended installation.

  11. If needed change the projector orientation (e.g. Front/Table, Front/Ceiling, Rear/Table, Rear Ceiling). See Pulse GUI user guide for the software settings of the projector orientation.
  12. Check for the latest projector software package. See chapter “Software update”.
