TFN Encoder Manager: I have multiple sites/TFN installations. Can I use Multiple Encoder Manager servers (Nem-110)?

Article number: [3230] - Legacy code: [12371]

Applicable to

Encoder manager (NEM-110) is End of Life (EOL) and End Of Service.
The encoder manager use case has been replaced with Barco CTRL (unencrypted mode).
More information can be found in the EOL notification (TDE12975)

Only 1 NEM-110 server per domain is supported.

So in the case of multiple TFN video walls within one domain, on different VLANs,
and each setup uses NGS-D440 encoders, then Barco recommends as follows

  • Install a single NEM-110 within the domain managing all NGS-D440 encoders across all TFN installations
  • NGS-D440 sources should not be shared between CMS instances

In case there are multiple network domains, and each domain has a TFN installation, then the following use case is supported.

  • in each domain, a NEM-110 can be installed
  • NGS-D440 sources can not be shared across domains
In lack of NEM-110 High availability capabilities, it is recommended to create a backup after configuration/upgrading and keep a spare unit to ensure minimum down-time upon NEM-110 failure.
