From ClickShare firmware v1.7 onwards, custom certificates for HTTPS can be uploaded to the ClickShare Base Unit. Custom certificates can as such replace the default self-signed ClickShare certificates for better compliance with company policies and have the advantage that privacy errors when browsing the ClickShare Configurator can be avoided.

Info! Installing custom certificate on CX and C series Base Units (how to: see KB5994).

How to create and upload the custom certificate?

  1. Login to your ClickShare Base Unit Configuration page by browsing to its IP address.
  2. Navigate to Security > Passwords > HTTP encryption and click Setup HTTP encryption...
  3. Click the radio button Create Certificate Signing Request and click the arrow icon to continue.
  4. Enter the following details to create a Certificate Signing Request and click the arrow icon to continue.
    • Domain name
    • Organization (optional)
    • Department (optional)
    • City (optional)
    • State / Province (optional)
    • Country (optional)
  5. After the CSR file creation is done, a custom certificate will be made available for download.

This CSR needs to be provided to the CA (official or self-managed), which will validate the details, and return a certificate if all details are correct. The resulting certificate needs then to be uploaded to the device in order to activate it.
  7. Navigate to Security > Passwords > HTTP encryption and click Setup HTTP encryption...
  8. Click the radio button Upload Certificate and click the arrow icon to continue.
  9. Enter your passphrase (optional) and then click Upload certificate... to install the custom certificate on your ClickShare Base unit.
