Barco projects onto world’s largest screen at première of Chinese blockbuster ‘Back to 1942’

The Chinese film ‘Back to 1942’, a New Year blockbuster directed by one of China’s most successful directors Feng Xiaogang and produced by Huayi Brothers Media Corporation, premièred at the Beijing National Stadium on 25 November last. Barco’s DP2K-32B projector, which has been listed by the Guinness Book of Records as the “world’s brightest projector”, was used to create a stunning movie experience for the audience, on the world’s largest screen (38m wide and 16m high).

It took director Feng Xiaogang about 18 years to finish ‘Back to 1942’, a movie which retells the history of the tragic famine in Henan Province. Wang Zhonglei, President of Huayi Brothers Media Group Corporation, commented: “‘Back to 1942’ is a true blockbuster, in which we invested hundreds of millions of Yuan. The première, therefore, had to be an unforgettable event. That is why we chose the National Stadium as a venue and decided to adopt the best possible projection technology and equipment.”

Film director Feng Xiaogang, scriptwriter Liu Zhenyun, the stars of the film including Zhang Guoli, Chen Daoming and Adrian Brody, many other locally famous movie stars as well as over ten thousand movie enthusiasts attended the première on 25 November last. To light up the huge screen (38m wide and 16m high), Barco’s DP2K-32B projector was set up. Considered to be the brightest projector in the world, the DP2K-32B ensures unmatched image brightness, vibrant colors and exceptionally rich contrast levels, thus delivering an exciting, mind-blowing, immersive movie experience to the audience.
