Law school goes live with Barco FSN

Thanks to Barco’s FSN Presentation System, the University of California, Davis Law School is now beaming broadcast-quality programming of its high-profile events, guest lecture series and mock trials throughout the campus and “live” over the Internet to hundreds of students, faculty and the greater law community. The law school recently presented a 2010 debate between candidates for California Attorney General, a hearing of the 9^th Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals, and its own Law Review panel, employing numerous effects in real-time to boost the production value of the shows.

According to Jamie Butler, Director of Information Technology at the UC Davis School of Law, “With the FSN system, we are able to establish a fully networked AV footprint that we can grow into as our needs expand.” Currently, the FSN is enabling the law school to alternate between cameras and perform blends, dissolves, picture-in-picture, luminance and chroma keying, and more, to create a clean, highly professional program. All of this can be done in real time, with limited post-production processing. Easy recording and playback enable anytime, anywhere access to programs for future viewing.
