SE Pennsylvania Transportation Authority

Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, US - 2014

When it came time to upgrade its visualization platform with a grant from the U.S. Office of Homeland Security, the Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority (SEPTA) had a long list of demands: enhance real-time situational awareness, boost system reliability and facilitate communication among all of its stakeholders. AV integration firm VistaCom and Barco devised a 24/7 mission-critical solution that met all its objectives and more, helping the agency to significantly improve incident handling and transit vehicle management across the region.

Eight display walls are networked throughout the facility, centralizing all information while providing the ability for operators to share sources on any and all displays. Barco’s latest control unit, the TransForm ECU-100, generates a very large common operational picture, utilizing the power of the Windows 7 64-bit version operating system. Operators can launch visuals from multiple desktops to create, save, and recall layouts on the spot. CMS software enhances collaboration between operators, managers and other personnel, featuring an intuitive and easy-to-use sidebar utility.
