Summer is here, and collaboration has never felt easier or breezier thanks to the latest ClickShare summer release! In this update, we take a deep dive into ClickShare Hub, our brand-new room system range, and highlight our favorite features to make the most of your ClickShare devices.

ClickShare Hub: the end-user experience

Last month, we introduced ClickShare Hub, the modular video conferencing room system built for enhanced, effortless hybrid meetings. 

While ClickShare Hub excels across the board, the end-user experience remains a key focus. The Hub delivers across three main areas: ease of use, flexibility, and guest-friendliness, making it accessible to all meeting participants. 

1. Ease of use

With ClickShare Hub, starting and joining meetings is effortless. Sharing wireless content in 4K is a click away, making presentations clear, impactful, and stress-free.  

This simplicity makes meetings intuitive and easy to master, allowing everyone to participate confidently from day one.

2. Flexibility

ClickShare Hub adapts  to your preferred way of working. Whether you favor BYOD setups, no-laptop workshops, scheduled meetings, or spontaneous collaborations, the Hub offers a unified, consistent meeting experience. 

What´s more, you can present from anywhere in the room using the next-generation ClickShare Button or our user-friendly App. At the same time, you can see remote participants on the screen, next to content, on any type of display you might have in the room: a standard, ultrawide, or even a dual display. 

3. Guest friendliness

Your guests will love the simplicity of our USB-C DisplayPort™ mode, which enables secure, hassle-free content sharing without needing to install additional software or drivers. 

Plus, it supports all major operating systems, including Windows, macOS, Linux, ChromeOS, iOS, and Android, guaranteeing a smooth meeting experience. 

How to join a meeting

Step 1: Tap the Control Panel to join the call

  • Locate the Control Panel. It´s usually on the meeting room table
  • Find your meeting. On the home screen, look for your scheduled meeting in the calendar view
  • Tap "Join“ to join your meeting
  • For an ad-hoc meeting: Start the call from your laptop and invite the room by selecting "Room Audio" in the pre-join screen

Step 2: Plug in the Button to share content

  • Plug in the Button and it will immediately connect you to the meeting room
  • Simply press the Button
  • Wirelessly share content in 4K from anywhere in the room

  • Sharing is possible with the Button, the Desktop App or by using a USB-C cable 
  • The next-gen ClickShare Button features USB-C DisplayPort™ mode enabling: 
    • all major operating systems (Windows, macOS, Linux, ChromeOS, iOS, etc.), even without software installed on your laptop, perfect for guests 
    • an extra layer of control. Content sharing only starts when you press the Button, not instantly — on purpose.  
  • With the Desktop App, you benefit from advanced sharing options such as extended desktop or the possibility to share a dedicated app or window 
  • Participants can share both people and content on a standard, ultrawide or dual display

Built with security at heart

At ClickShare, we take security very seriously. Built on Microsoft’s robust and secure Microsoft Devices Ecosystem Platform (MDEP), ClickShare Hub ensures enterprise-grade security. 

Microsoft developed the Microsoft Devices Ecosystem Platform (MDEP), a customized platform built specifically for collaboration devices, leveraging Android´s Open Source Project (AOSP) and adding layers of security, keeping your devices safe and secure.  

It's the ideal foundation for the next generation of ClickShare, offering IT administrators control, security, and peace of mind. 

These robust security measures include: 

  • Android verified boot, which blocks unauthorized firmware and OS modifications to maintain device integrity.  
  • Hardware-based attestation, supported by Microsoft’s public key infrastructure, ensures devices remain untampered and secure.  
  • Kiosk mode restricts the device interface to only the Microsoft Teams environment, preventing unintended use or access to other Android functionalities.

2. Teams Admin Center and Pro Management Portal

The Teams Admin Center and Teams Rooms Pro Management Portal offer comprehensive management capabilities similar to XMS Cloud. These include device overviews, health status monitoring, incident management, firmware updates, reboot options, and detailed log collection.  

Additionally, IT admins benefit from advanced analytics, allowing them to review detailed Teams meeting activities, assess call quality metrics, monitor network health, and analyze participant interactions. This enables proactive optimization and helps enhance user satisfaction. 

3. Microsoft Intune

Microsoft Intune offers detailed device overviews similar to XMS Cloud and robust security through Conditional Access and Compliance Policies. 

This ensures that all managed devices meet organizational security requirements before accessing critical resources like Office 365 and Teams services, maintaining continuous compliance and reducing security risks.

Some incredibly useful ClickShare features deserve a second look. We're bringing them back into focus to ensure both IT admins and end users can make the most of their ClickShare experience. 

XMS Cloud Scheduler

Manual firmware updates and device reboots can be tedious, error-prone, and demanding on IT resources. To simplify this process, we recommend you use the XMS Cloud Scheduler, a powerful tool that automates these critical maintenance tasks.  

What can you do with this feature exactly? You can:  

  • easily schedule recurring updates and reboots 
  • manage these schedules fleet-wide from one centralized dashboard 
  • leverage location-based scheduling that automatically apply tasks to newly added devices.

The button on the Button

Ever noticed the small button on your ClickShare Button and wondered what it's for?  

This button is your shortcut to the ClickShare Desktop App, giving you immediate control over what you share. A quick press allows you to effortlessly switch your content or manage your presentations without surprises or interruptions.  

Enjoy smooth, intuitive navigation and advanced control—right at your fingertips. 

How to update your devices?

ClickShare consists of different components: Base Units, Buttons, Apps and the XMS Cloud management platform. Make sure each component is updated to guarantee the best experience.

  • Base Unit firmware can be installed via the auto-update functionality or it can be manually updated via the ClickShare Configurator.  
  • Buttons update automatically via Wi-Fi. 
  • ClickShare Desktop App. We recommended manually downloading and installing the latest version to ensure the App automatically updates to future releases. Once installed, an auto-update function will keep the App up to date. Do you want to enable wireless conferencing via the App? Be sure to download the MSI installer.  
  • iOS and Android App are updated according to your mobile device settings. 
  • XMS Cloud updates run automatically while XMS Virtual Edge can be updated manually.
