Recently, the China-EU Science and Technology Innovation and Cooperation Symposium and the 2023 China (Zhejiang)-Europe Life Sciences Innovation Fair were successfully held in Hangzhou. Barco was invited to attend and deliver a keynote speech, introduce the company’s R&D innovation philosophy and localized investment achievements. Additionally, our industry-leading digital pathology display stood out in the innovation competition, earning accolades from the expert panel and reaffirming Barco’s leading position in the medical display field.
Promoting China-EU science and technology cooperation to strengthen localized industrial chains and frontier innovation
The China-EU Science and Technology Innovation and Cooperation Symposium was co-organized by the Hangzhou Technology Transfer Center and the China Centre of Leuven Health Technology Centre of KU Leuven, aiming to promote the transfer and transformation of scientific and technological achievements between China and Europe.
Attendees included Luo Weihong, Deputy Director of the Standing Committee of the Municipal People’s Congress, Joseph Vandes, Dean of KU Leuven and Royal Academy of Sciences Academician, Lou Liqun, Deputy Director of the Municipal Science and Technology Bureau, Luo Jianqiang, Deputy District Head of Yuhang District, as well as representatives from universities, domestic and overseas enterprises, and investment institutions.
In recent years, scientific and technological cooperation and exchanges between China and Europe have become increasingly close, with Zhejiang Province placing significant importance on industry-academia-research cooperation channels with Belgium and other European countries.
At the meeting, Carl Decaluwé, Governor of West-Flanders, Belgium, stated, “The friendship between China and Belgium is long-standing, and Barco is an excellent representative of Belgian enterprises, continuously advancing medical visualization innovation. We hope that through the efforts and cooperation of all parties, we can promote the transformation of scientific and technological achievements and achieve win-win development”.

Shining in the China (Zhejiang)-Europe Life Sciences Innovation Fair, digital pathology displays receive industry recognition
As a high-quality platform connecting the medical industries of China and Europe, the China (Zhejiang)-Europe Life Sciences Innovation Fair received 162 projects from 11 countries, including China. After preliminary rounds, semifinals, and finals, outstanding products were selected. With its breakthrough performance, Barco’s digital pathology display stood out in the competition, garnering widespread market attention and winning the Technology Innovation Prize.
The competition invited successful enterprises to share their experiences and held a grand ceremony to reward and promote advanced medical technology transformation projects, attracting numerous guests from domestic and international projects, government departments, healthcare units, enterprises, and venture capital institutions to jointly promote the cross-border transfer and transformation of scientific and technological achievements between China and Europe.
