The Middle East cinema market is, just like so many other industries in the region, developing at lighting pace. Prestigious multiplexes are springing up and embracing the latest technology to offer a superior movie experience. No wonder that Barco is firmly strengthening its foothold there. One of the many new cinemas in the region, Sky Cinemas Kuwait has recently decided to exclusively install Barco projectors, including laser projection for its future sites.
Laser industry leader
Sky Cinemas Kuwait is a relatively new cinema chain that inaugurated its first three new screens in Kuwait City just last July. But there’s more to come. By mid-2016, the cinema exhibitor wants to install another five screens and it is looking for opportunities to expand outside of the capital too. “Barco’s industry-leading position in laser projection, the future of cinema, was the deciding factor for Sky Cinemas to make an exclusive choice for Barco projectors,” said Peter Khamas, the spokesperson of CineTech Middle East JL.
A leading cinema supplier and technical support company in the Middle East, CineTech equipped the first Sky theater with two Barco DP2K-10s and one DP2K-20C projector and will assist Sky Cinemas in the future. Fahad Al-Saleh, owner and spokesperson for Sky, said he is confident that the partnership with CineTech and Barco will prove to be a winning ticket.
