In a monumental moment for Cuenca, medieval city in the center of Spain, the historic San Miguel Church has reopened its doors, unveiling a captivating new attraction named "Luz Cuenca". This immersive light and sound show aims to merge culture and technology, offering visitors a truly unique experience.
Context
The Iglesia de San Miguel, nestled in the heart of Cuenca, is located close to the Unesco World Heritage town wall. The 13th century Roman catholic church underwent a comprehensive restoration, now serving as an important cultural hub for the city
The new projection mapping show, a collaborative effort between the regional government of Castilla-La Mancha and the Cuenca Consortium, revitalizes the historic landmark and marks a pivotal moment in Cuenca’s cultural development, symbolizing the convergence of tradition and innovation.
Ibercover Studio, design company of DIGITAL IMMERSIVE EXPERIENCES, crafted the captivating visuals that pay homage to Cuenca's cultural legacy. To bring "Luz Cuenca" to life, they partnered with Fluge Audiovisuales to provide state-of-the-art AV equipment.
Solution
The centerpiece of the wonderful exhibit comprises twenty Barco G60-W7 projectors. The laser light source of the single-chip laser projectors ensures great image quality to deliver stunning visuals on the church walls and its famous ceiling adorned with Mudéjar elements envelopping visitors in an immersive experience. In addition, their uniform compact size enables optimal integration in the church architecture, transforming the space into a modern cultural space while preserving its historic significance.
